our '00 suncruiser has the built-in water filter under the sink with a
separate faucet. we change the filter at the beginning of each camping
season but that's done because i take the filter cartridge out when i
winterize. our previous MH, a 1985 winnebago chieftain, had no such filter
and the only reason we're using the filter in the itasca is because it's
there. we've only run into bad campground water one time and that was years
ago in new mexico just outside of carlsbad caverns. when checking into the
'white's city' rv park we saw warnings that the campground water supply was
judged unsafe by the local or state health dept (e-coli contamination)
wonder. as i was taking the trash out the next morning i saw that the
campground was littered with horse droppings, some of which had fallen onto
the water spigots. anyway, this just reinforced our practice of never
leaving home without a full tank of known-to-be-
know what you're gonna run into.

I tried an inline filter between the campground faucet and the coach,
but the throughput made the water just dribble out of the faucets in
the coach. I did not find this satisfactory.
